Public Announcements

Oct. 8, 2020

Approximately 45 days ago the Oklahoma Funeral Board sent a request to the Governor to eliminate the CE requirement for the 2021 license renewals. The Governor has refused to sign the request. Today, the Oklahoma Funeral Board announced that all licensees will be required to obtain 6 hours of CE for the license renewal. You are not required to have any in-person hours but one hour still needs to be ethics.

In response to today's Oklahoma Funeral Board announcement the OKFDA Board is planning three Fall Meetings to be held the end of this month.

October 22 Barnes Friederich Funeral Home in Midwest City

October 27 Dighton Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater

October 29 at The Artesian Hotel & Casino in Sulphur, OK

Snacks and beverages will be offered as well as one hour of CE. The cost of the program will be $15 per person. Each program will begin at 6 pm.

In addition, the association will host a two-day event at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home in Midwest City. The event will be December 6 & 7. Each event will include five hours (repeated) on Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. Details of the education are still being worked out.  This should meet the needed CE requirement.

We continue to move forward with the 2021 Convention on April 25 – 27. The Convention will be held at the Marriott Renaissance located at 71st Street and Highway 169 in South Tulsa.

In addition, the vital records division of the Oklahoma Health Department has announced the temporary closure of the McAlester Location. The location will be closed until the 20th. Vital Records has suggested that there are no funeral directors using the location as a walk-in facility. Oklahoma City will service the needs until the 20th
