COVID-19 UPDATE April 28 OURS PLAN

Apr. 28, 2020

Good afternoon! I hope this email finds you well and safe from today's expected storms.

I have some very important information to share with you today regarding funerals and church openings.

First, the numbers today are: 3,280 confirmed cases in Oklahoma with 197 deaths.
Last week the Governor announced the OURS PLAN (Open Up & Recover Safely).   In Phase 1 the Governor said Churches can open for "services" as usual. Phase 2 states that funerals and weddings will be allowed for groups over 10....

You can see there is a little confusion between church services and funerals. I called the Governor's Office today for clarification.  The Governor's Office states "Churches are open for regular Church Services - this does NOT include funerals over ten until Phase 2." I have contacted the Oklahoma Council of Churches to clarify with them the Governors order so they can communicate with all of our state churches.

To clarify, funerals in the State of Oklahoma are still restricted to 10 or fewer. Phase 2 will go into effect, at the earliest, May 15th. IF the Governor approves PHASE 2 on or before May 14th the Funerals may return to "normal" on May 15th. PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR CITY to assure your City does not have more strict guidelines.

I also want to share a website with you: https://www.okcommerce.gov/covid19/ours-plan/This website will give you more information as to how the State will reopen. Even after Phase 2 is approved, you as a business owner will need to operate as you feel necessary.
I hope this information is helpful.

I also want to let everyone know that OKFDA has a new website: www.okfda.com  Please take a moment and check it out. We still have a few things we need to correct. You can join the association on-line and register for any of our events.  You can find my COVID-19 UPDATES toward the bottom of the page under ANNOUNCEMENTS.
