Robert Wayne Smith

Robert Wayne Smith was born on September 14, 1946, the son of Don and Lena Faye Smith. He departed this life October 8, 2022. His only beloved sibling, Donnie, passed from this earth just two weeks ago. While his family is so broken hearted, we are thankful he passed from this earth so peacefully and quickly with his children and wife by his side. Robert is with the Lord Almighty and will forever be in our hearts.

Robert graduated from Drumright High School in 1964. He then continued his education at Central State University, earning his bachelor's degree in mortuary science. During this time, he also met Carolyn Fitzgerald and they married on July 21, 1973. Moving to Drumright, Robert began his career in the Don Smith Funeral Home, originating over 80 years of family ownership that included his grandparents & parents. Robert had two children, Paul & Ashley who had his endless love, patience, and grace. He did anything they needed and endured anything they endured.

Robert maintained his quality of professionalism of the funeral home and other hobbies of motorcycles, antique cars, and duck hunting. Those of us who knew Robert well, appreciated his expectations in his work and play.

He is survived by his precious wife of 49 years, Carolyn, children and spouses, Paul and Heather, Ashley and Lincoln. His grandchildren, Amelia, Everett, Halling and Graham, Holt and Emmett had his overwhelming surge of unconditional love. He spoiled them just a bit.

Robert's family would not presume to have anyone take their time to honor his life, but the family hopes that the many who were affected by his well lived life will keep him alive in their thoughts and prayers and well wishes.

Funeral services were held 10:00AM, Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church, Drumright, Oklahoma with at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
